A Valentine’s Day Message

Valentine’s Day

Today is a day that, by all accounts, is representative of a day of love. But the truth is, it can also be a bittersweet day, that is a bold reminder of tremendous loss. I have a few thoughts on that I would like to share with my sweet friends today.

I have loved ones that I hold close and dear that have gone through some really hard things in recent weeks, months, and years. They have experienced the devastating loss of a spouse, some suddenly and unexpectedly. They have had anticipated weddings up-ended, taking a turn in a different direction…. Having to end that relationship out of self-care and self-wellness.

I have friends that have been alone for a long time, even some married ones, that feel unseen and unheard and unloved…

I have friends that have gone through divorce, death, disease, dysfunction, and disasters that they never imagined or anticipated. Today, I say to each of us, it’s OK to feel grief over a life we expected… that didn’t quite turn out that way.
But, ONE thing is certain…. The love of God is present and he is holding us upright.

The people, places, and things of this world will let you down. It is certain. But, God will not. God did not design us to just give up and merely survive, going through he motions. He created us to thrive and shine our light. To live in love and kindness with our hearts wide open to the world around us. So after a moment of grief, wipe your tears and get back in the game. You are valued, loved, and worthy. He said so. Know that. Believe it.

Human love can (and will) fail us, because.. #people
But God‘s love never does…
Even if you feel sad and alone today, you’re not. HE is with you. Keep going.

To my married friends, who feel physically and emotionally alone….. God sees you. God hears you. God cares for you. Only His love is unfailing. Keep going.

To my single friends who think they will never find the right guy…. God is with you and for you. He’s fighting the battles you can’t even see. Trust Him. Keep going.

To my friends in seasons of relentless hardship, struggling to make it one more day. Struggling as a single mom. Struggling with grief. Struggling in other insufferable ways. Keep going!

To those of you who are in a wonderful season of life, in loving, compassionate, caring, Godly relationships, thank God for that today. Even if he didn’t buy you flowers, be grateful for the many other wonderful things he does and tell him so. Keep going!

“And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who have been called according to his purpose…..
No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God, in Christ Jesus our Lord. “ Romans 8:28, 37-39.

P. S. And I love you. Keep going!
